This authentically made fur shoulder mantle is made from genuine reindeer hide and has become one of our best loved and most sought after products to come out of The Raven Forge Workshop.
This item of clothing offers an exceptional degree of warmth and dryness. This is due to Reindeer having hollow hair that gives this material an amazing heat efficiency, in fact it is the second warmest fur in the world only to polar bears. It is cut to shape by our workshop team and fitted with a sturdy brown leather tongue and brass buckle that fasten at the chest with ease. Its combined comfort and stand out appearance make this a great fit for authentic costuming, living history and re-enactment.

The material used is reindeer hide, veg-tan leather, a brass buckle, and quality fittings.
Patterns in the hides and buckle designs may vary on stock, but all items will be of a superior quality finish.

Excellent garment, better than a gas boiler, a statement and a magnet.
As a surprise gift I was worried the mantle wouldn’t be large enough for my son’s broad shoulders. I contacted Raven Forge & they acknowledged me straight away, saying they’d find the right one from stock. I was not disappointed! It’s beautiful! Amazing quality! It fits! I bought it as a finishing touch to my wedding outfit and it was perfect. Very well made, and although you never really know the exact colour it was a perfect match for my outfit It kept me lovely and warm from the chilly breeze coming up off the sea. I can't belive how warm it is! I'm 6"4 and 250 lbs and this is lovely, just draping over my shoulders and drops down to the middle of my back. Only had it two days but worn it in wind rain hopefully snow soon. I want the reindeer hide next.

I absolutely adore this ethically sourced hide. I tested it out the first night on Raven Forge's very own Yorkshire moors and can genuinely say I didn't even feel any chill that night. I'm looking forward to using this throughout the autumn and winter to keep the sting of the coastal winds at bay. 10/10

Really happy I took advantage of the summer sale and went for the genuine reindeer mantle, took a week or so for dispatch but they're handmade and does specify on the product page so that wasn't an issue. The mantle itself is beautiful and well made, I look forward to wearing it!

I tried it out for a morning and sweat to death it certainly kept me hot, I was doing some farm work but it was worth it, luckily not too much dirt so well worth buying now for the really cold winter weather.
So as the story goes I've always wanted one of these mantles, but was always worried due to my size as I got big shoulders mixed with a big belly and I thought I'd never get one that fitted. However, a million thanks to the Raven Forge team, they set me up with a custom Reindeer Hide Mantle for my size, and it's absolutely amazing I love it.
