Collection: Throwing Axes

Throwing axes for beginners and seasoned throwers

Axe throwing has gone from festival novelty to proper sport, and the right axe makes all the difference. Every Raven Forge throwing axe pairs a forged high carbon steel head with an English ash haft. Each one is balanced to rotate cleanly and bite into the target.

Choosing your first throwing axe

  • Just starting out? The Mini Throwing Axes, Set of Three are a Raven Forge best seller. At around 80g with a blunted edge, they're made for smaller wooden targets, garden practice and friendly competition.
  • Ready for full size? The Bearded Thrower takes its shape from the Viking Age skeggøx. Its long blade gives beginners and veterans a generous sticking edge. The Dane, Floki, Frank and Hawk throwers each give you a different head profile to master.
  • Want more bite? The Double Bit Thrower gives you two edges, so whichever way it lands, you're in with a chance.

Runed and custom throwing axes

Our workshop team hand-burns bind runes and Nordic symbols into the haft. The Floki Runed Throwing Axe is burnt at the top and base and waxed while warm for a deep ombre finish. It makes a throwing axe a gift worth keeping, not just using. Custom pieces usually take 1–2 weeks.

Spares and care

Hafts are the part that takes the punishment, so we sell spare throwing axe hafts to keep you in the game. High carbon steel isn't stainless, so dry your axes after a session and oil the heads regularly.

Throw safely

Always throw at a purpose-built wooden target with a clear area behind it. You must be 18 or over to buy throwing axes from Raven Forge.
