Description +
From across the North Sea they came; they struck Lindisfarne with such ferocity, the day was the 8th June 793. It marked the beginning of the Viking age, which was to last for nearly 300 years. It ended in 1066, when their bloodline struck again, at Hastings, invading from Normandy.

The Vikings' reputation as violent pagans has begun, destroying as they did Lindisfarn'es monastery of St. Aiden, shattering the holy order of life on the island. For the monks whose blod (Norse for blood) was not spilt, slavery across the water awaited.

Flavour notes:
This mead is a ‘melomel’, fruited honey mead, created by combining our infamous Lindisfarne Original Mead with our popular Lindisfarne Cherry Wine. The resultant mixture is a fruity taste explosion for the mouth, with the powerful cherry flavour providing an almost non-alcoholic taste despite its 14% ABV. A smooth medium-sweet drink.

About the Meadery:
St. Aidan's Winery is the home of Lindisfarne alcohol; they make and bottle many different tipples on-site, including mead, rums, beers and wines. It is situated in the centre of Holy Island village adjacent to the marketplace. The showroom has been open to the public since 1968 and attracts over 200,000 visitors annually from all over the world.
