This straight katana (known as a chokutō (直刀) is a single-edged Japanese sword that was mainly produced prior to the 9th century. This katana is hand-forged in a traditional technique, with a striking high carbon steel blade housed in a wooden hand-painting black saya for protection.
This training sword is full tang sharpened high carbon steel, with a genuine ray skin wrapped tsuka (grip). One of the most outstanding features of this chokuto is it's tsuba, featuring deities in battle. A copper habaki and seppa are seen where the blade meets the tsuba. This sword is of exceptional quality and would make a fine addition to any collection.
