This Birka seax is brilliant. The Blade is tight Damascus pattern steel with a sudden broken-back seax shape. This leads to a segment of brass and wood rings creating an intricate patterns and a hardwood grip, sandwiched between 2 brass bolsters. The sheath is a genuine leather back sheath with belt loops, encased in finely detailed brass and steel work.
The Birka seax is a style of seax (or knife) found in the grave sites of Birka, Sweden. They are identified by their intricate brass-work encasing the leather sheaths.
