Made with hand-picked sloes from across the Strathardle glen, this is a rich and flavoursome mead, which presents rather like a white port. It gives a deep fruity character, with a firm tannin dryness and a hint of tawny warmth.
While many of the Rookery's meads work well with mixers or as a cocktail, they feel this mead is best left alone, and taken as it comes. This meads richness makes it the perfect accompaniment to a cheese-board, or as an after dinner tipple.
Rookery Craft Mead is an independent meadery in Perthshire. A huge amount of research go into their meads, looking to evidence in the historical and archæological record for source material, then back-engineering these ancient drinks to create modern and exciting products. Almost all the ingredients, down to the wax seal, are foraged and sourced from the local area; if there was ever an authentic mead, this is it.
No sulphites, sugars or syrups are used…ever!
